Resumen
Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is an X-linked neuromuscular disease that primarily affects skeletal muscle, but also, to a lesser extent, cardiac and smooth muscle. People with this disease progress through the stages of ambulation, wheelchair use, and life preservation with preserved quality of life.
This book summarizes quality of life interventions for each of these stages, focusing on optimizing ambulation, preventing severe kyphoscoliosis, and preparing for surgery. It also covers physical aids in non-invasive respiratory care, summarizing the key points.
