PRESENTACIÓN
El presente libro –“Materiales de referencia y comparaciones interlaboratorios. Herramientas para el control de la calidad en laboratorios de en-
sayo”- es uno de los productos del proyecto, de tres años, desarrollado por el Laboratorio de Química y Referencia Medio Ambiental (LQRMA) del
Centro Nacional del Medio Ambiente (CENMA) de la Universidad de Chile, cuyo objetivo fue el de desarrollar e implementar en CENMA un Labora-
torio de Referencia en metrologia química. El objetivo del presente volumen es el diseminar el conocimiento científico y técnico en el campo de la
metrologia en investigadores, técnicos, profesionales y publico en general.
Los trabajos presentados en este libro son el resultado de comunicaciones enviadas por expertos en metrologia de numerosos centros, institutos
de metrologia y/o acreditación, así como de prestigiosas universidades. Quienes aceptando nuestra invitación abierta se sumaron a esta iniciativa
académica aportando de forma entusiasta y generosa su colaboración. A todos ellos les damos nuestros sinceros agradecimientos.
Los artículos incluidos en este volumen han sido agrupados en dos capítulos titulados “Lineamientos y tendencias” y “Aplicaciones y Desarrollo”. El
primero de ellos se presentan y discuten tanto indicaciones e interpretaciones de normas y guías como desarrollos y futuras tendencias de la me-
trologia y de la trazabilidad de las medidas. En el segundo capítulo se presentan diferentes experiencias practicas relacionadas con la elaboración
y uso de materiales de referencia y aplicación de comparaciones interlaboratorio como pruebas de aptitud.
CENMA agradece el soporte financiero otorgado por Corporación de Fomento de la Producción (CORFO) para implementar el proyecto “Estable-
cimiento de un Laboratorio de Referencia para Mediciones químicas en CENMA”, el que permitió expandir e incrementar las capacidades humanas
y de infraestructura para responder al urgente desafío de país como es el desarrollo de la metrología en general, y en particular en el área medio
ambiental.
CENMA por lo tanto hoy esta equipado y confiado, en poder contribuir al rápido y sólido desarrollo de la metrología en Chile, con los mas altos
estándares de calidad y para con ello satisfacer su mandato de proporcionar soporte al sistema de gestión medio ambiental, y a instituciones pu-
blicas y privadas. De este modo, el centro participará activamente para apoyar los esfuerzos del Ministerio de Economía, que a través del Instituto
Nacional de Normalización (INN) y CORFO, esta realizando para promover e impulsar el desarrollar de la infraestructura necesaria en el país a fin de
implementar la red nacional de la metrología.
Este libro es presentado por CENMA con la esperanza de contribuir y promover un rápido desarrollo de la metrologia en Chile y Latinoamérica y
permita motivar la colaboración, transferencia tecnológica y de información entre los países de la región.
PRESENTATION
This book - “Reference Materials and Interlaboratories Comparisons. Tools for the quality control in testing laboratories”- is
one of the products of a three-year project conducted by the Environmental Chemistry and Reference Laboratory (LQRMA) of
the National Center for the Environment (CENMA) of the University of Chile, aimed to developing its capacities as a reference
laboratory in environmental chemistry and metrology. The objective of this volume is to disseminate technical and scientific
knowledge on the field of chemical metrology to researchers, practitioners, professionals and public in general.
The works included in this book are the result of free-flowing communication among experts in metrology from centers, in-
stitutes and metrology and/or accreditation laboratories, as well as prestigious universities.They accepted our open invitation
to be part of this academic initiative and provided generous collaboration and enthusiastic support, which made possible the
successful completion of the book.To all of them we offer our sincere gratitude.
The papers included in this volume have been grouped in two chapters:“Lineamientos y tendencias” [Guidelines and trends]
and “Aplicaciones y Desarrollo” [Applications and development]. The first of them presents and discusses indications and in-
terpretations given to regulations and guidelines together with indications regarding current and future trends in the area of
metrology and measurement traceability.In the second chapter different experiences are presented regarding both,the elabo-
ration and use of reference materials as well as the application of inter-laboratory comparisons as aptitude tests.
CENMA acknowledges the financial support (Grant Nº 03C9XC-05) from the Corporación de Fomento de la Producción (CORFO)
[the national Production Development Corporation] to implement its project“Establishment of a Reference Laboratory for En-
vironmental Chemical Measurements in CENMA”, which allowed it to expand and increase its human and infrastructure capaci-
ties to respond to the urgent national challenge of developing chemical metrology, particularly in the environmental area.
CENMA today is therefore equipped and also committed to contribute to the rapid and solid development and expansion of
metrology in Chile, complying always with the highest quality standards, and fulfilling its mandate of providing support to the
National System of Environmental Management, the national government and the private sector.Thus, the Center will actively
participate to support the efforts of the Economy Ministry, which through the Instituto Nacional de Normalización (INN) [Na-
tional Institute of Normalization] and CORFO, is promoting and encouraging the creation of the infrastructure required in the
country to developing the National Metrology Network.
This book is presented by CENMA with the hope that it will be useful and contribute to foster and speed up the development
of chemical metrology in Chile and Latin America and will also motivate future collaboration, technological transference and
information sharing between countries in the region.
