Shell patclliform, rather dcpresscd; vcrtcx obtusc, for thc most part placed considcrably towards onc end, pointing to thc posterior margin; muscular impressions not symmetrical, but widcst 011 thc right side, towards that porlion of thc shell wherc the head of the animal is situate; apcrlure gcncrally rathcr cir- cular; the central disc usually of a dccp brown, variable in intcnsity; with a flattish interna) margin. The shclls of this genus so closcly rcsemblc thosc of Patclla, that they are with difüculty distinguished. Thcy are, howcl'cr, gencrally flattcr. Thc animal is vcry distinct from that of I'a- tclla.
