Shell horn-coloured, smootb, pellucid, greatly elongated; bocly not half the length of the shell; spire long, tapering, con- sisting of seven or eight slender, gradually diminishing, some- what cylindrical volutions, terminating in an acule apex, these are very slightly wrinkled longitudinally, ancl the lower volutions sometimes obscurely striated transversely; aperture oblong, not a third the length of the spire; outer lip thin; inner lip white, ancl slightly reflected on the columella. This species is subject to variety, both in size and form, as will be seen by a. refcrence to our figures; in sorne the spire terminales in a decollatecl apex. Shell very thin, pcllucid, shining, rendering the columella visi- ble Lhroughout its wholc length; colour, pale amber; body very largc, envcloping the spire, ancl providecl with coarse, longitncli- nal strim; spire very short, sunk, truncated at the apex, ami sometimes concave, consisting of three volution~, nono of which are visible in thc profile of the shell; apcrture very large, widc at the base, and extending to the apex; margin rcflcctcd only where it joins tite pillar. Length firn lincs and a half; breaclth three lines and a half. Its general aspect is not unlike Akei·ajlea:ilis, in consc<¡uence of the aperture cxlending to tite apex, and thc appearance of thc columella.
