Shell ovate, ~mooth, glossy; body large; ~pire small, con- sistiug of four rounded rolutions, separatecl by a rleep suture, terminating in an obtuse apex; aperture semi-ovate; outer lip thin al' the cdge; pillar lip white, narrowly reíleclcrl on the columclla; umbilicus deep, ancl hollowed by a spiral groove, which terminales in a notch on the columella, anda rib crossing half o,·er the opcning; colour lirid or purplish, with a white band invcsting thc superior portion of the volutions; insiclc yellowish orange. Lcngth five-tcnths of an inch; diameter one-eighth of an inch. Inhabits the Frith of Forth, in which locality a beauliful spe- cimen was found by my friend Dr. Knapp of Edinburgh; it is also met with on thc norlh coast of thc Isle of Man; but is a rare spccies. 5. Shcll nearly globular, pellucid, bluish-white; body largc; spire small, llat, consisting of three decply dividcd volutions; covered with rather wide, oblique, longitudinal striro; aperture sublu- G nated; umuilicus long, narrow, and pointed al both extremitics; surfacc covered with fine, regular, longitudinal striro internally; aperture semilunar; outer lip very thin, acule al thc edge; pillar lip slightly rellected 011 the columella. Diameter somewhat more than onc-eighth of an inch. Said to have becn <lrcdgecl in clcep water, in the Frith of Forlh, by Captain Laskey, ·a single live specimen only occurring.
