This spccies is snbject to some variety in the denticulations on the outer lip ; some have more and others less, ancl young shells are destiluté of them; the plications on the columclla also vary from lwo to four, but the usual nmnber is thrce. Found on the shore al Plymouth, and other parts of the south Devonshire const ; al Barnstable allll I sracomb, in the north ; near Aberavon, '\,Vales; nnd al Southamplon; Dublin Bay, I relaml ; and Dunbar, Frith of Forlh. l I.
