Shell cream-white, smooth. shining, consisting of ninc well-roundcd, not very decply-di rided volutions, abrnptly tapering to an acule npex ¡ cach volution furnished with n broncl, yellowish-browtl hand in its centre, with two narrow· lines of the snme colour abo,·e it ; the bocly pro\'icled with two broacl bands, the onc in its centre, ami the othcr 011 ils base, parallcl with the outer lip; bctwecn thesc there is a ,·cry narrow line of the same colour, nncl two above the superior band; aperture oblong- orntc, n little contracted both nbo\'e and bclow; outer lip thin, not con- tinuous above ; pillar lip slightly rcflected on the columella. Thosc who hu\'C an opporlunity of compnring these t wo shclls will nlso observe that the ribs in P. clcga11tissi11111s do not run st raight, but oblic¡ue to thc right, are not so much arched, and are largcr thnn the inlcrstices.
