4 a Sir John Narbrough's Poyag, Leagues : this forcnoon at nine a Clock, I faw a f mall flat Iílal'ld to theWeftward of me, about a League off thc Land ; it lies in the Latitude of 48 J. 40 n,,South; tbe Land againft it is high, in large Hills, 3nd fome Iarge copling tops; two Leagues more te the Southward, the Land is low, in a greatPlain, and a Bcach by the Sea-fide, but the fhore againíl: this Iíland is rocky. I was two Lcagues Eaft from the flat Iíland,and had twenty three Fathom black Sand ; I halcd clofe in for the füore, and fail'd within ñve Miles of it. Ali along from this Iíland to Port St. 1ulia11, I founded asJ fail'd along, and had I 8 or 2.0 fathom fine black Sand; the Land is low in a Valley; the Sea-íhore is a Bcach, here and there a Rock; it is in a long Beach for four Leagues. After you are to the Soutbward of the Flat-líland oneLeague, the fhore lies South-foutb-weft, and North-north-caft ; at thc South-end ofthis Beach in-land are high round Hills, but at the Sea-íide is a ftecp whiteCliff, of :m inditfcrent heighth, with a black ílreak in it ; o-ver thc Cliff"the Hill rounds up ta the top, ha– ving fome fmall black Bufhes growing on thc fide; no Wood or Tree fecn.
