El medio ambiente en la minería

" . .. ,.. The worldwide environmental movement is a product of the turbuJent last 20 years and has a major impact on the ferrous and non-ferrous industries. The inerease of energy consumption, industrial production and consumption oC metals as a consequence of population growth and industrial development have ereated a negative impact on our natural environment. The latter is beginning to be painfully felt. Figure 1 shows the relationship between a metaUurgical activity to obtain a final marketable metal and its requirement on raw and auxiliary materials as well as the environmental impact derived from waste waters, residue and wastes as well as the waste gases. Figure 2 shows the consumption per capita of primary metals in 1989 and Figure 3 shows the development ofbase metals produetion world 1900/1991. • Este trabajo fue expuesto en el Seminario por Bemd Ruebel, Gerente de la División de Metalurgia No-Ferrosa, Lurgi Metallurgie GmbH, Frankfurt/Main, Alemania.
