1994 Thanks to the addition of new collections, Universidad de Chile decides to reorganize the documental and bibliographical resources. Thus, the Biblioteca Central changed its name and institutional physiognomy and the current custodian of the Neruda Collection, the Archivo Central Andrés Bello, was born. September, 1996 A project for the improvement of the preservation conditions in the Sala Neruda is initiated, thanks to the funds awarded through a Fondart. 2002 The Malacological Section of the Neruda Collection was subject to a technical cleaning process. At the same time, a definitive cataloguing was carried out by malacologist Cecilia Osorio. 2006 Malacologist Cecilia Osorio and Manuel Danneman (ex director of the Archivo Central Andrés Bello) published, through Editorial Universitaria, the book Las Caracolas de Pablo Neruda. December 1, 2008 - January 24, 2009 400 shells of the Malacological Section of the Neruda Collection were exhibited in Amor al Mar: las caracolas de Neruda an exhibition presented in the Instituto Cervantes in Madrid, Spain, to commemorate the bicentennial of Chile’s independence and the activities of the fifth International Congress of the Cultures and the Arts. As a result of this exhibition, a book of the same is published. September 5, 2009 The Neruda Collection of Universidad de Chile’s Archivo Central Andrés Bello is declared a Chilean Historical National Monument through the publication of Chile’s Ministry of Education Decree 295. March 2 - March 30, 2010 The exhibition Amor al Mar: las caracolas de Neruda opens in the Centro de Extensión of Valparaiso’s Consejo Nacional de la Cultura y las Artes. 162 universidad de chile
