346 PATA Days 2024 Fig. 1: Location of the study area in a (A) continental and (B) regional context, where the seismotectonic sub-segments refer to Molina et al., 2021 are shown. The area covered by the rectangle corresponds to the (C) local context, where the spatial relationship between the studied lakes can be seen. SOMATOM Definition Flash, Siemens AG). Selected cores were split for micro- and macroscopic description at the Austrian Core Facility at the University of Innsbruck. Magnetic susceptibility (MagSus) and γ density were measured using a GEOTEK MSCL with a downscale core resolution of 2 mm. Colour images and the elemental composition were obtained with an Itrax-XRF scanner. As the latter only provides semiquantitative element data, the subsequent statistical treatment and compositional data analysis are key to their interpretation. To strengthen interpretations based on these data, intervals of high interest are selected for quantitative analysis of (i) TOC, TC, C/N and δ13C at the Laboratory of Erlangen-Nuremberg University, (ii) C/S at the Department of Geology (Innsbruck University) and (iii) diatom frustules to distinguish between marine, brackish and freshwater species (Northumbria University, England). Selected organic macroremains were picked for 14C analysis at the ETHZurich radiocarbon lab. To robustly identify the 1960 CE event deposit and estimate the sedimentation rate of the uppermost section, short- lived radionuclides (137Cs and 210Pbex) from two surface cores were analysed by gamma spectrometry at the Laboratoire Environnements, Dynamiques et Territoires de Montagne (EDYTEM, France).
