Santa Laura, en medio del desierto, es un gran animal muerto secándose al sol . Un cadáver en mejor estado que hace 10 años, cuando vine en 1998. Hoy lo vuelvo a dibujar y a disfrutar. Se está restaurando y protegiendo. Enhorabuena. El tamaño de esta chimenea hace pensar que todo el salitre de la pampa se quemaba en esta vieja maestranza. No resulta creíble que estas instalaciones necesitaran este tamaño de chimenea. Es mediodía y el sol cae vertical. Este elefante está aquí hace más de un siglo… Santa Laura, in the middle of the desert, is a large dead animal drying in the sun. A corpse in better condition than it was 10 years ago, when I came in 1998. Today , I draw and enjoy it again. It is being restored and protected, at last. The size of this chimney makes one think that all the saltpeter from the pampas was burned in this old workshop. It’s incredible that these facilities needed a chimney of this size. It’s noon, and the sun is directly overhead. This elephant has been here for over a century... 26
