I SIMPOSIO 2023 MAXIMIZING GRID SERVICES POTENTIAL OF ELECTRIC TAXIS: EVIDENCE FROM SANTIAGO, CHILE ABSTRACT In this work, we propose a novel approach to individualize the chargingbehavior andvariables for each taxi inanelectric vehicle (EV) fleet in order to provide grid services. Our comprehensive optimization model takes into account individual taxi characteristics, such as departure times and battery levels, aiming to optimize fleet operations and profitability. The proposed approach maximizes revenue by considering both Grid-to-Vehicle (G2V) and Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) policies, benefiting aggregators and EV fleets while contributing to the development of efficient and sustainable transportation systems through cost reduction initiatives. The methodology effectively maximizes overall profits by intelligently considering costs, revenues, and pertinent constraints. It optimizes energy consumption during taxi downtime, accounting for specific departure/arrival times and State of Charge (SoC) levels. The results show that lower nighttime tariffs are correlated with reduced operational costs due to predominantly nighttime charging. Additionally, increased price variability under G2V and V2G policies facilitates energy arbitrage, leading to revenue generation. In conclusion, we successfully implement an individualized approach to optimize taxi operations, considering diverse behaviors and needs. Our approach enhances revenue generation for aggregators and EV fleets while enabling cost reductions within the taxi industry through increased policy flexibility and tariff options, leading to more efficient resource utilization. This work contributes to the development of efficient and sustainable transportation systems while benefiting various stakeholders in the EV ecosystem.
