A 50 años del inicio de la fonoaudiología en Chile: experiencias y desafíos actuales en salud pública

192 SPEECH THERAPY AND PRIMARY HEALTH CARE: INTERVENTIONS FROM A COMPREHENSIVE APPROACH IN CHILD Abstract The presence of speech therapists in the stimulation rooms of Chile Crece Contigo Subsystem has been a gradual process in primary care centers. The role of these professionals is to implement actions to promote comprehensive child development and prevention of communication disorders. Although there is no single route for the speech and language support of children, it is possible to identify three lines of action: care from a family and community health approach; implementation of workshops to promote comprehensive child development; and comprehensive home visits. Considering the above, this chapter presents a description of the actions of the professional speech therapist based on technical guidelines and personal experience. It is concluded that there has been significant progress in our work, but there are still challenges for the guild and for the health system itself. Keywords: Comprehensive child development, Chile Crece Contigo, early childhood, Primary Health Care.
